Building Speaker Pods

This is just a brief overview and more pictures and/or steps can be obtained by emailing Juswrest1e@aol.com

Laying out Duct Tape to form initial mold.

After 2 coats of Fiberglass w/ mat is applied the mold is ready to be removed

Remove the duct tape and allow backside to properly cure.  Then cut the excess into desired pod shape.

Make the speaker rings for both the 5 1/4 and tweets.

Use bendable pipe strapping to support the speaker rings making them easy to position. Place the pods in the car and position the speakers accordingly. Then use fleece or grill cloth (in this case I used some old pantyhose) to stretch  completely over the pod.

Apply an even coat of fiberglass to the outside.  Then apply 2-3 more coats of fiberglass with matting to the inside to reach a desired thickness of 1/4 inch or so.

There you  have it!!  I used just plain old gray carpet for this install (may eventually get some heat formable vinyl) using contact cement as an adhesive.
